EUDR GeoJSON error: polygon has no measurable area

A polygon exterior must enclose land. Collinear or repeated vertices can form a closed ring that still has zero area.

BlockingFix at the source

What the check requires

Every polygon exterior must enclose a real area. A collinear or zero-area ring is not a production plot.

A blocking error — this record cannot pass deterministic validation until it is resolved.

Why this is reported

The coordinates may all sit on one straight line, or a damaged export may repeat too few distinct positions. The ring can look structurally complete because its first and last coordinates match, but it does not describe a production plot.

This is a geometry-integrity check only. A positive polygon area does not prove the plot is deforestation-free or otherwise compliant.

How it gets fixed

Open the plot in the source mapping tool and check the real boundary. Restore the missing or misplaced corners, or map the parcel again from reliable source data.

Clearlane does not create an area by moving vertices automatically. Export the corrected polygon and rerun the check.
